DESCHUTES COUNTY, Ore. — A Lebanon man was killed and two others were seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a head-on crash on Highway 126 near Redmond, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash near milepost 107 at approximately 1:11 p.m. on May 17, 2026.
A preliminary investigation found that a green Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 63-year-old Lee Glenn Bernard of Lebanon, was traveling eastbound on Highway 126 when it crossed into the westbound lane for an unknown reason.
Authorities said a westbound blue Subaru Outback, driven by 77-year-old Scott Macleod Nicol of Redmond, attempted to avoid the pickup, but the vehicles collided head-on.
Bernard was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, 66-year-old Sandra M. Kronour of Lebanon, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. Nicol also suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The highway was impacted for approximately three hours while investigators worked at the scene.
OSP said the investigation remains ongoing. Troopers were assisted by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
