A 63-year-old Salem man has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for stabbing and assaulting a Salem woman multiple times earlier this year.
Daniel Ray Myers was sentenced in Polk County Circuit Court to 130 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of Attempted Murder and Assault in the First Degree. The sentence was handed down by Judge Rafael A. Caso.
In addition to his prison term, Myers will serve 36 months of post-prison supervision following his release.
According to authorities, the attack occurred in February 2026. After the stabbing, Myers fled Oregon and traveled to California, where he was later apprehended through a coordinated law enforcement operation. He was subsequently extradited back to Oregon to face charges.
Prosecutors said Myers was sentenced under Oregon’s Ballot Measure 11 mandatory minimum sentencing law, meaning he will not be eligible for early release or sentence-reduction programs while incarcerated.
Court records show Myers has prior convictions for murder, unlawful possession of weapons, and supplying contraband.
