Portland, Ore. — A Gresham man identified by federal authorities as a senior member of the Hoover Gang was sentenced Wednesday to more than eight years in prison for illegally possessing firearms despite being a convicted felon.
A Gresham man was sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison Wednesday after admitting to illegally possessing firearms as a convicted felon, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.
Shakor Shovontae Ray Holiday, 32, received a sentence of 100 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release.
U.S. Attorney Scott E. Bradford said the case underscores the federal government’s commitment to combating gun violence.
“The unlawful possession of firearms fuels gun violence and puts communities at risk. This case sends a clear message that those who choose to illegally possess and flaunt firearms—whether online or in our neighborhoods—will face federal prosecution,” Bradford said. “We will continue to combat gun violence, prosecute offenders, and safeguard communities across Oregon.”
FBI Special Agent in Charge Doug Olson said the sentencing demonstrates the agency’s commitment to working with law enforcement partners to improve public safety.
“The FBI will continue to aggressively pursue felons in possession of firearms,” Olson said.
Acting Homeland Security Investigations Seattle Special Agent in Charge April Miller said removing armed offenders from the streets remains a priority.
According to court documents, Holiday, who goes by the nickname “Dute Fly,” posted videos to social media on May 31 and June 2, 2023, showing himself holding an AR-style rifle. Investigators later executed a search warrant at Holiday’s residence and recovered two firearms, including the rifle seen in the videos.
Authorities said a second firearm recovered during the search was linked to a shooting in Beaverton that occurred on June 21, 2023, the night before the search warrant was served. Prosecutors said there was insufficient evidence to conclusively identify Holiday as the shooter.
A federal grand jury in Portland indicted Holiday on July 13, 2023, on one count of felon in possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 13, 2026.
The case was investigated by the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, the Portland Police Bureau and the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Gresham Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Lewis Burkhart and Leah Bolstad prosecuted the case.
Federal officials said the prosecution was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through cooperation among law enforcement agencies and community organizations.
