KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. — A 71-year-old Bonanza woman was killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 39 and Highway 140 in Klamath County, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash near milepost 2 on Highway 39 at approximately 11:21 a.m. on June 16.
A preliminary investigation found that a white Kia Sedona driven by 38-year-old Fatima Abrica Torres of Merrill was traveling southbound on Highway 39 when it was struck by a silver Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by 71-year-old Lenayah Priscilla King of Bonanza.
Investigators said King had stopped at the stop sign while attempting to turn left onto Highway 39 to travel northbound but failed to yield to southbound traffic before entering the intersection.
King was pronounced dead at the scene.
Torres and two juvenile passengers in the Kia were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The highway was impacted for approximately 30 minutes while investigators processed the scene.
Oregon State Police were assisted by Klamath County Fire District No. 1 and the Oregon Department of Transportation. Authorities have not released any additional information regarding the crash.
