MALHEUR COUNTY, Ore. — A 35-year-old Idaho woman was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 201 in Malheur County, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 8:28 a.m. on June 11 near milepost 14 on Highway 201.
A preliminary investigation determined that a red Pontiac Vibe, driven by Alisha Nicole Chaney, 35, of Payette, Idaho, was traveling northbound near Hyline Road when it left the roadway for unknown reasons. The vehicle entered an irrigation ditch and rolled over multiple times.
Chaney was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said she is not believed to have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The highway was impacted for about one hour while emergency crews conducted an on-scene investigation and cleared the crash scene.
Oregon State Police were assisted by the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office, Treasure Valley Paramedics, Weiser Fire District, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
