GLIDE, Ore. — A 22-year-old Glide man was killed Friday morning in a head-on collision involving a passenger vehicle and a log truck on Little River Road east of Roseburg.
According to preliminary information from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. on June 12 between mileposts 12 and 13 near Woodview Drive.
Investigators said John Metianu, 22, of Glide, was driving a silver 2009 Hyundai Elantra northwest on Little River Road when he attempted to pass another northbound vehicle and entered the oncoming lane.
A southbound log truck driven by Jeffrey Johnson, 54, of Roseburg, collided head-on with the Hyundai. Metianu suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Johnson was not injured in the crash.
Authorities said there were no initial indications that alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
Emergency responders from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by the Glide Rural Fire Protection District and the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Officials confirmed that next of kin have been notified. The crash remains under investigation.
