MEDFORD, Ore. — An 18-year-old Medford man was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly stabbing his stepfather during a domestic incident on Greenwood Street, according to the Medford Police Department.
Officers responded at approximately 1:03 p.m. on June 12 to a report of a stabbing in the 1800 block of Greenwood Street. Upon arrival, police encountered what officials described as a chaotic scene and found a 40-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to his upper arm on a sidewalk near the residence.
Officers immediately rendered aid to the victim, applying a tourniquet to control the bleeding while other officers entered the residence and contacted the suspect.
The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Trenton Furrey, was taken into custody without incident. Investigators determined the victim was Furrey’s stepfather.
Medford detectives responded to assist with the investigation, and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
As the investigation continued, detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and collected additional evidence related to the case.
Furrey was later interviewed at the Medford Police Department before being lodged at the Jackson County Jail. He faces charges of first-degree assault and second-degree assault.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing but emphasized there is no continuing threat to the public.
