EUGENE, Ore. — A pedestrian is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following an early morning crash on April 15 along Northwest Expressway near North Park Avenue, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 3 a.m. alongside fire personnel to a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian. The driver, operating a Chevrolet Cobalt sedan, called emergency services and remained at the scene.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he is continuing to receive treatment. Authorities have since identified the individual, though additional details have not been released.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Crash Reconstruction Team responded to investigate the incident. Preliminary findings indicate the pedestrian was in the roadway when he was struck. The driver is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Prior to being identified, the pedestrian was described as a white male between 35 and 45 years old, with brown hair and eyes, balding ear-length straight hair, and a full beard. He was wearing wire-rim glasses, a red long-sleeve shirt layered with a green long-sleeve shirt, blue pants, and gray slip-on shoes.
