BEND, Ore. — Two people were arrested Friday night after a vehicle was intentionally rammed into another car and a confrontation followed in northeast Bend, according to the Bend Police Department.
Officers responded at about 10:28 p.m. Aug. 14 to a reported crash near NE 27th Street and Forum Drive. Investigators determined that 41-year-old Scott Everett Mann of La Pine had deliberately driven a Toyota Tacoma into a white Volvo S60.
The collision left both vehicles blocking the roadway, and the occupants of the vehicles briefly fought before officers arrived.
Mann was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, two counts of reckless endangering, unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree disorderly conduct. He was taken to the Deschutes County Jail.
While officers were investigating the crash, another man approached the scene and aggressively interfered with officers who were interviewing Mann. Police said the man attempted to fight with officers.
The man, identified as 43-year-old Bend resident Gregory Charles Unruh, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree disorderly conduct, interfering with a police officer and assault of a public safety officer. He was also transported to the Deschutes County Jail.
Police said Unruh is a family member of one of the people involved in the crash.
A large police presence responded to the scene as officers investigated the incident. The case remains under investigation.
