BEAVERTON, Ore. — A 27-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon after a disturbance aboard a TriMet MAX train resulted in a stabbing and sent another man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Beaverton Police Department said officers responded to the Sunset Transit Center at approximately 12:49 p.m. on July 9, 2026, after a westbound MAX train stopped following a reported disturbance involving two men.
According to investigators, the confrontation occurred while the train was traveling between Portland and Beaverton. During the altercation, one man was pepper sprayed and stabbed.
The stabbing victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were determined to be non-fatal.
Officers arrested 27-year-old Jesus E. Verduzco in connection with the incident. He was booked on allegations of Assault in the Second Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unlawful Use of Mace.
