Fatal Crash Near Marcola Claims Life of Eugene Man

LANE COUNTY, Ore. — A 51-year-old Eugene man died in a single-vehicle crash late Monday night in rural Lane County, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded at about 11:20 p.m. June 15 alongside Mohawk Valley Fire personnel to the 90000 block of Marcola Road following reports of a crash. Emergency medical personnel arrived and found the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle deceased at the scene.

Authorities identified the victim as Daniel Keith Johnsgard, 51, of Eugene.

An investigation by sheriff’s deputies determined that Johnsgard’s vehicle had traveled a significant distance off the roadway before striking several trees. Based on the preliminary investigation, speed appears to have been a contributing factor in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional information was immediately available.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office has not released any further details.
