MARION COUNTY, Ore. — Two people lost their lives in a head-on crash early Wednesday morning on Marion Road in northeast Marion County, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched at approximately 12 a.m. on June 17 to the 14000 block of Marion Road NE after receiving reports of a two-vehicle collision.
A preliminary investigation determined that a Kia crossed the centerline and struck a Volkswagen Passat head-on. Each vehicle was occupied only by its driver.

Marion Road remained closed for several hours while members of the Marion County CRASH Team investigated the scene. Officials said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Marion County CRASH Team, METCOM 911, Willamette Valley Communications Center, Jefferson Fire District, and emergency medical responders.
In a statement, the sheriff’s office expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims, noting that the loss of two young lives is a tragedy that affects the entire community.
“Our hearts go out to all those who knew and loved them during this incredibly difficult time,” the agency said, asking the community to keep the victims’ families in their thoughts as they cope with the devastating loss.
