LAKE COUNTY, Ore. (June 8, 2026) — A 69-year-old Idaho man was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 140 in Lake County, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 9:15 a.m. on June 4 near milepost 6 on Highway 140.
A preliminary investigation found that a multi-colored KTM motorcycle, operated by John Lester Hunter, 69, of Donnelly, Idaho, was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree.
Hunter was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash did not impact traffic on Highway 140 during the investigation.
Oregon State Police were assisted at the scene by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
