TUALATIN, Ore. — A 20-year-old Portland man has been arrested following a shooting incident during a Facebook Marketplace transaction at Jurgens Park in Tualatin earlier this month, according to investigators.
On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at approximately 2:43 p.m., officers with the Tualatin Police Department responded to reports of shots fired at Jurgens Park.
When officers arrived, they contacted two victims who reported meeting a suspect at the park to complete a Facebook Marketplace sale involving clothing. The victims stated the suspect paid several hundred dollars in counterfeit currency for the items. After the victims confronted him about the fake bills, the suspect fled the scene while allegedly firing multiple rounds from a handgun toward them. No injuries were reported.
The victims described the suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 18 to 20 years old. Witnesses reported seeing him leave the area in a vehicle. A perimeter was established and a K-9 track was conducted, but the suspect was not located at that time.
Following additional investigative work and tips from the public, detectives identified the suspect as Daniel Jaden Rodriguez Jr., 20, of Portland.
On Friday, June 5, 2026, Rodriguez was taken into custody without incident with assistance from the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team. He was lodged at the Washington County Jail.
Rodriguez is facing multiple charges, including two counts of attempted murder, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, first-degree robbery, first-degree forgery, and unlawful use of a weapon.
Authorities acknowledged assistance from the Tigard Police Department, Sherwood Police Department, King City Police Department, the Portland Police Bureau, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation and arrest.
The investigation remains ongoing.
