CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. — A Portland man was killed Friday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 26 near milepost 29.5, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 2:43 p.m. on May 29 near Southeast Weber Road.
A preliminary investigation found that a 16-year-old female driver of a blue Subaru Impreza entered westbound Highway 26 from SE Weber Road and failed to yield the right of way. The Subaru was struck on its rear left side by a westbound blue Ford Focus driven by 39-year-old Briande Boudreau Lybbert of Portland.
The impact caused the Ford to cross into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with a white U-Haul moving truck driven by 68-year-old Kent Jonathan Moe of Castle Rock, Colorado.
Lybbert was pronounced dead at the scene.
Moe and a passenger in the U-Haul sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The teenage driver of the Subaru was not injured.
Investigators cited the Subaru driver for careless driving.
Highway 26 was affected for approximately four hours while emergency crews conducted the on-scene investigation and cleared the roadway.
Oregon State Police were assisted by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, Clackamas Fire and Rescue, the Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation.
