Central Point, OR. — The Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET) and the Oregon Department of Justice’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force served a search warrant this week at a residence in rural Central Point as part of an ongoing child exploitation investigation.
According to authorities, investigators executed the warrant on May 27 at a home in the 5000 block of Table Rock Road after receiving information that child sexual abuse material (CSAM) images had been uploaded from the location to the social messaging platform Discord.
The investigation began after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children provided a cyber tip that prompted investigators to issue subpoenas and ultimately obtain a search warrant. During the operation, investigators interviewed possible witnesses and individuals connected to the case.
Law enforcement agencies involved in the search included the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the Medford Police Department, the City of Talent Police Department, the Oregon Department of Justice ICAC Task Force, and the Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force.
Authorities seized multiple digital devices during the search. The Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force will conduct forensic examinations of the devices to determine whether additional evidence of child exploitation exists.
Officials emphasized that the investigation remains active and that no further details are being released at this time. No arrests or criminal charges were announced in connection with the warrant.
SOCET was established in June 2020 as a multi-agency task force dedicated to investigating and combating child exploitation crimes in Southern Oregon. The task force includes investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Medford Police Department, Oregon Department of Justice ICAC Task Force, and Homeland Security Investigations, along with local, state, and federal prosecutors. The Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force is composed of investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Medford Police Department.
Investigators said witness interviews and digital forensic examinations will continue as the case moves forward.
