Oregon — U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley joined a group of Senate Democrats calling on the White House to remove Kurt Olsen from his role as Director of Election Security and Integrity.
In a letter sent to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, White House Counsel David Warrington, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino, the senators argued that Olsen has exceeded the legal 130-day limit for serving as a special government employee and should no longer remain in the position.
The lawmakers said they first raised concerns about Olsen’s appointment in October 2025, citing his involvement in investigations related to claims of fraud in the 2020 presidential election. According to the letter, subsequent court filings and public reporting have linked Olsen to federal actions involving election offices in Georgia and the seizure of election equipment in Puerto Rico.
The senators contended that Olsen has continued pursuing theories regarding the 2020 election despite investigations finding no evidence supporting those claims. They also expressed concern about reports that Olsen has been granted access to intelligence agencies and resources while serving in the White House.
“President Trump is then using these theories to justify his ongoing baseless claims about the 2020 election and assert illegal and unconstitutional powers to ‘take over the voting’ in certain states in the upcoming election,” the senators wrote.
According to the lawmakers, Olsen was hired by President Donald Trump in October 2025 as a special government employee to investigate election-related allegations. They argued that his continued role has raised concerns about potential federal involvement in future election administration and oversight.
The senators also cited reports that the administration is considering placing Olsen in another federal position after his current assignment ends. They urged the White House to remove him immediately and prevent any further involvement in election-related matters.
The letter was led by Alex Padilla and was signed by Wyden, Merkley, and eight other senators, including Richard Blumenthal, Jon Ossoff, Bernie Sanders, Adam Schiff, Jeanne Shaheen, Chris Van Hollen, Mark Warner, and Sheldon Whitehouse.
The White House had not publicly responded to the senators’ letter at the time of publication.

Have they forgotten that just before the November election in 2020 the Biden Administration stated that the Hunter laptop information was real and authenticated. The FBI had the laptop and knew what it contained months before the election. Several months after the election when the truth was well distributed and known a poll came out stating that 25% of the Democrats who voted for Biden that if they had known of Hunter’s laptop they would not have voted for Biden.
The Biden Administration willfully withheld this information because they knew it would influence the election in favor of President Trump. Now if you don’t call that election fraud and that the election was rigged in favor of Biden, I don’t know what Merkley and Wyden’s definition of election fraud is.
Only time that 0regonians even know that these two guys are even alive is when it\’s election time. They will probably be re-elected again this year is the fact that half of the population of Portland is transplanted DemocRATS from California. Wild idea, how about Oregon citizens vote these two outdated DemocRATS out of Washington DC this time around and see what real people can do for you.
