LANE COUNTY, Ore. (May 4, 2026) — A Florence man was killed Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash involving two motorcycles on Highway 126, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 1:54 p.m. on May 3 near milepost 2.7, where a preliminary investigation found that a white Volvo 240, driven by Lorna Marie Trujillo, 50, of Florence, had slowed to a stop in the eastbound lane while attempting to make a left turn into a mobile home park near Rose Hill Road.
Authorities said the Volvo was rear-ended by a green Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail motorcycle operated by Brandon Taylor Oetken, 38, of Florence. The impact caused Oetken to be thrown from the motorcycle.
Moments later, a second motorcycle—a white Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic ridden by John Carlos Moreno, 65, also of Florence—collided with the rear of the green motorcycle. Moreno lost control and laid the motorcycle on its side, sliding approximately 150 feet before coming to a stop.
Bystanders stopped to provide aid to both riders until emergency crews arrived.
Oetken was pronounced dead at the scene.
Moreno sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. Trujillo was also taken to a hospital as a precaution, reporting pain following the crash.
The highway was impacted for about one hour while investigators processed the scene.
Oregon State Police were assisted by Western Lane Fire and Rescue, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Florence Police Department, the Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
