UMATILLA COUNTY, Ore. — A 55-year-old Pendleton woman was killed Tuesday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 near Pendleton, according to Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash around 5:07 p.m. on April 21 near milepost 207. A preliminary investigation found that a white Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Jeanette Lynn Row, was traveling eastbound when it struck the rear of a white Freightliner tractor-trailer operated by 33-year-old Zholdoshev Abdilaziz of Schaumburg, Illinois.
Following the initial collision, the Tahoe veered sharply to the right. Investigators said the driver lost control on wet pavement, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and roll multiple times. Row was ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Row was declared dead at the scene. Authorities believe she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Abdilaziz was not injured.
Despite the severity of the crash, traffic on the interstate was not significantly impacted during the on-scene investigation.
Pendleton Fire and Ambulance assisted at the scene.
