LANE COUNTY, Ore. — A 24-year-old Harrisburg man has died following a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Highway 99E, according to Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the scene around 2:30 a.m. on April 19 near milepost 32 after receiving a report of a damaged power pole. Upon arrival, officers discovered a heavily damaged black BMW 135 in a ditch. The driver, identified as Tyler Raymond Caseri, was found with serious injuries.
Caseri was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities said the hospital notified Oregon State Police of his death on April 20.
Investigators believe speed and impairment were contributing factors in the crash. Officials also noted the vehicle may have been the same one that fled from an Oregon State Trooper less than an hour earlier, reportedly reaching speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour in the same area.
The highway remained open during the on-scene investigation.
Oregon State Police were assisted by the Junction City Police Department, Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Junction City Fire and Rescue, and Eugene-Springfield Fire.
The investigation remains ongoing.
