WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. — A 20-year-old Portland man is in custody following a chaotic multi-property pursuit Wednesday afternoon after a reported burglary and assault in unincorporated Washington County.
On June 17, 2026, at approximately 4:48 p.m., deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a criminal mischief call in the 5000 block of NW 171st Place after a 9-1-1 caller reported that window screens had been removed, window casing was damaged, and an unknown male was inside the backyard of the residence.
According to authorities, the suspect fled the scene when confronted. The caller’s husband pursued the man and was subsequently assaulted, sustaining minor injuries. During the altercation, the suspect also took the victim’s keys before continuing to flee on foot.
A large search operation was launched involving multiple deputies, K9 units, and drone teams, which quickly established a perimeter in the surrounding neighborhood. Deputy Oien and K9 Rexx tracked the suspect as he moved through multiple backyards, scaled fences, ran across a roof, and entered another residence before continuing his escape.
After an extended search, the suspect was located and taken into custody near the 1700 block of NW Countryridge Drive.
The suspect was identified as Favian Rincon. He was transported to jail and lodged on charges including Attempt to Commit Burglary, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Criminal Trespass in the First Degree, and Theft in the Third Degree.
Officials confirmed that the involved resident sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
