Spokane, WA. — Two fugitives wanted in California on serious felony charges, including murder and willful cruelty to a child resulting in injury or death, were arrested last week in the Liberty Lake area.
According to authorities, members of the Regional Auto Theft and Violent Crime Enforcement Network (RAVEN) Task Force received information on April 14, 2026, from a detective with the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office indicating that the suspects—identified as Sherwood D. Johnson II, 37, and Megan M. Frederick, 33—were believed to be residing in Liberty Lake.
Both individuals were wanted on nationwide extradition warrants issued out of California.
On April 16, RAVEN Task Force members conducted surveillance operations and located Frederick at a residence in the 24000 block of East Mission Avenue. Johnson was located separately at a business in the 23200 block of East Appleway Avenue.
Authorities arrested Johnson at approximately 6:00 p.m., followed by Frederick’s arrest around 6:30 p.m.
Both suspects were taken into custody without incident and transported by assisting Liberty Lake Police officers. They were booked into jail on fugitive charges and are currently being held pending extradition to California.
Officials have not released additional details regarding the underlying case in California.
