PORTLAND, Ore. — A Multnomah County jury has found 43-year-old Noureddine Dib guilty on multiple felony charges stemming from a 2024 shooting at the Islamic School of Portland, prosecutors announced.
The verdict, delivered Tuesday, includes convictions for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits.
According to evidence presented at trial, the shooting occurred on October 17, 2024, at the school in southwest Portland. Authorities said Dib shot the victim in the abdomen following an interaction between the two men. The victim attempted to flee, but prosecutors said Dib pursued him across school grounds while continuing to fire multiple rounds.
The incident unfolded just minutes before students were scheduled to be released to their parents, raising concerns about the potential for additional injuries.
The victim was able to escape to a nearby gas station, where bystanders called 911 and emergency responders provided aid.
The case was prosecuted by Multnomah County Deputy District Attorneys Eric Palmer and Stephany Mgbadigha. Officials credited the Portland Police Bureau and Detective Sara Clark for their investigation.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 7, 2026, before Judge Andrew Lavin in Multnomah County Circuit Court.
