WEST LINN, Ore. — April 21, 2026 — A federal jury on Tuesday unanimously found the City of West Linn and its police officers not liable for negligence in their response to a 2020 behavioral health call for service, bringing an end to a lengthy legal process.
The case centered on the actions of officers during the incident, with jurors ultimately determining that the response met legal standards under challenging circumstances.
West Linn Police Chief Rollins expressed appreciation for the officers involved, commending their professionalism and dedication throughout both the original incident and the subsequent court proceedings.
“Today’s verdict affirms that the officers responded appropriately under difficult conditions,” Rollins said in a statement. “We are grateful for their focus, preparation, and commitment during this process.”
The West Linn Police Department emphasized that it remains committed to serving the community with professionalism and compassion, particularly in situations involving behavioral health crises.
