Marion County, OR. — A Marion County Circuit Court judge on January 27 sentenced Kent Hart Marcotte, 43, to 100 months in the Oregon Department of Corrections following a no contest plea to multiple felony sex offenses involving a child.
Judge Channing Bennett imposed the sentence after Marcotte entered no contest pleas to Rape in the Second Degree, Sodomy in the Second Degree, Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, and Attempted Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.
According to court records, the crimes occurred in 2017 and involved a juvenile victim who was under the age of 14 at the time. Marcotte was known to the victim as a family friend. Concerns were raised after the victim’s mother observed inappropriate interactions, prompting an investigation.
A Marion County grand jury indicted Marcotte in February 2018, and an arrest warrant was issued. Authorities were initially unable to serve the warrant because Marcotte had left Oregon.
In May 2024, Marcotte was arrested in Texas on the Marion County warrant and later transported back to Oregon to face prosecution.
The investigation was conducted by the Salem Police Department, led by Detective John Diaz. The case was prosecuted by Marion County Deputy District Attorneys Kylie Kuhns and Meghan Kamps. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, officials said no additional details will be released.
