A 33-year-old Hood River man was killed early Sunday morning after his Subaru Outback crashed through a guardrail and traveled down a steep embankment along Highway 35 in Hood River County.
Oregon State Police responded to the single-vehicle crash near milepost 100 at approximately 2:36 a.m. on September 13.
According to investigators, Omar Julio Solano-Delgado was driving a silver Subaru Outback southbound on Highway 35 when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle struck and went through a guardrail before traveling down the steep embankment.
Solano-Delgado was pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway was impacted for approximately one hour while emergency crews and investigators worked at the crash site.
Oregon State Police said impairment is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash.
The investigation was assisted by Hood River Fire & EMS, WyEast Fire District, the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
