Linn County, OR. — The Linn County Board of Commissioners has approved Mill City’s request to add 13.43 acres to its urban growth boundary, allowing the city’s planned wastewater treatment plant to be located within city limits.
Commissioners Roger Nyquist, Sherrie Sprenger and Will Tucker approved comprehensive plan and zoning map amendments during an Aug. 25 public hearing. The Linn County Planning Commission had recommended approval on Aug. 11, following the Mill City Council’s approval of the proposed amendments on May 28.
The expansion includes 1.18 acres designated for residential use, 10.15 acres designated for public use and 2.10 acres of right-of-way along Southeast Fairview Street.
Mill City Recorder Stacie Cook spoke in support of the application, explaining that the changes would bring the new wastewater treatment plant within the city limits. No one testified against the proposal.
In other business, Juvenile Department Director Torri Lynn reported that the Linn County Juvenile Detention Center held 28 youths from four counties during July. That included 17 from Linn County, four each from Benton and Clackamas counties and three from Lincoln County.
The department’s Probation Unit was involved with 200 young people, while community programs served another 110. Lynn also reported that the department’s summer program was providing participants with supervised outings and other positive experiences.
Commissioners also reappointed Audrey Raschein and Kris Latimer to the 4-H and Extension Service District Budget Committee. One position remains open on that committee, along with an opening on the Linn County Planning Commission.
The board accepted a $750 temporary construction easement along Bowers Drive for the Muddy Creek Bridge Project and approved a $70,235.66 engineering services contract with Jacobs Engineering Group for the Truax Creek-Clover Ridge Road Bridge Project.
The bridge contract is expected to receive 89.73% reimbursement through the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Local Bridge Program.
Commissioners additionally approved closing a portion of Tangent Drive from 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 19 for the annual Tangent Harvest Festival Parade. They also moved the county administrative officer position from management pay range 35 to pay range 39.
