Madras, OR. — he Madras City Council will interview eight applicants for two temporary council appointments during a special meeting Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The applicants are William Atherton, John Anthony “Tony” Chard, Christopher Collier, Christopher Heden, Travis Montgomery, Tanya Murren, Laura Sullivan and Eric Timmerman.

Each applicant submitted an application and written responses to a standard set of questions. The materials are included in the publicly available meeting packet.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with an executive session closed to the public under Oregon law. The council will then reconvene in open session to address regular city business, interview the applicants and consider possible appointments.

The temporary appointments are separate from the Nov. 3 general election, when Madras voters will choose candidates for new council terms.

The complete meeting packet, agenda, online participation information and attendance details are available on the City of Madras website.
