BATTLE GROUND, Wash. — A 28-year-old e-motorcycle rider was injured and faces multiple charges following a collision Friday morning at the intersection of SE Rasmussen Boulevard and SE 14th Street.

The Battle Ground Police Department responded to the crash at approximately 11:30 a.m. on August 21, 2026.

According to witnesses, David Allan Minch was traveling eastbound on SE Rasmussen Boulevard behind a black Ford F-150. Witnesses reported seeing the e-motorcycle weaving within its lane before Minch attempted to pass the pickup on the right.

As the e-motorcycle was passing, the Ford F-150 turned right onto SE 14th Street. The e-motorcycle struck the truck’s right rear portion.

Minch was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. Police said he faces charges of felony DUI, reckless driving, first-degree driving while license suspended, and violation of an ignition interlock requirement.

Investigators found no evidence of wrongdoing by the driver of the pickup. The driver cooperated with the investigation and was released at the scene.

Police said the e-motorcycle involved in the crash was not street legal and was being improperly operated on a public roadway.

The Battle Ground Police Department said it has seen growing community interest and concern regarding e-motorcycles and e-bikes. The department is developing educational resources to help riders, parents and community members better understand the rules governing the vehicles.

Police encouraged e-motorcycle and e-bike owners to understand their vehicle’s classification and legal requirements before riding. Riders are also encouraged to use appropriate protective equipment, exercise caution and understand where their vehicles may legally be operated.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to discuss safe and appropriate operation of e-vehicles with young riders.

Questions about e-motorcycles and e-bikes can be submitted to the Battle Ground Police Department through the City’s website.
