KEIZER, Ore. — A multiyear investigation by the Keizer Police Department has resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old Salem man and the recovery of more than $10,000 in suspected stolen merchandise.

Carlos Dejesus Chale was arrested on October 20, 2026, following a coordinated law enforcement operation involving the Keizer Police Department, Salem Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The investigation began in February 2025 after a residential burglary involving property damage and threats against a family. Detectives with Keizer Police’s Criminal Investigations Unit identified Chale as a suspect, and arrest warrants were subsequently issued.

In 2026, detectives with the department’s Community Response Unit developed additional information connecting Chale to suspected drug activity and stolen merchandise in the Salem area. Investigators also discovered outstanding arrest warrants associated with cases in multiple counties.

On October 20, Keizer police coordinated an operation with assistance from the Salem Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit and the DEA. Personnel from Keizer Police’s Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Community Response and Traffic Safety units also participated.

During the operation, Chale was taken into custody, and investigators executed court-authorized search warrants at an apartment and a storage unit in Salem.

The searches led to the recovery of more than $10,000 in suspected stolen merchandise, including tools, household appliances and electronics. Many of the items were still in their original packaging. Investigators also recovered a small quantity of suspected illegal drugs.

Chale was booked into the Marion County Correctional Facility on multiple outstanding arrest warrants involving theft and coercion.

The case has also been referred to the Marion County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of additional charges of theft by receiving and possession of methamphetamine.

Keizer police detectives are continuing to investigate the case and work to identify victims so the recovered property can be returned to its rightful owners.
