BEAVERTON, Ore. — A 74-year-old Beaverton man was critically injured Friday afternoon after being struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run crash in Washington County, authorities said.
The crash occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on July 24, 2026, at the intersection of NW West Union Road and NW Neakahnie Avenue.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the man was riding his bicycle eastbound on NW West Union Road when an SUV traveling westbound turned left in front of him and struck the cyclist.
A nurse who happened to be at the scene provided medical care to the cyclist. He was later transported to a hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of the SUV did not stop after the collision and fled southbound on NW Neakahnie Avenue.
The inter-agency Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) responded to investigate the crash. Deputies recovered the SUV’s side mirror, which broke off during the collision. Investigators used the mirror to identify the suspect vehicle as a gray 2011 to 2015 Ford Edge.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the suspect vehicle before or after the collision to contact authorities if they have not already spoken with deputies.
