Roseburg Motorcyclist Found Dead After Failing to Report to Work

ROSEBURG, Ore. — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal single-vehicle motorcycle crash after a Roseburg man was found dead Thursday evening along Roberts Creek Road in the Green District.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, after a woman reported her son, 24-year-old Jarod Michael Whitlock of Roseburg, missing when he failed to report to work for two consecutive days.

While investigating Whitlock’s whereabouts, deputies discovered him deceased shortly after 8:00 p.m. in the 8700 block of Roberts Creek Road.

The preliminary investigation determined Whitlock had been riding a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle eastbound on Roberts Creek Road after traveling from Gateway Road. Investigators said evidence at the scene indicates the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed before leaving the roadway and coming to rest approximately 50 yards from the road.

Authorities confirmed Whitlock was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the incident and extended its condolences to Whitlock’s family and friends.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by Central Douglas Fire and Rescue.
