ROSEBURG, Ore. — A woman was killed late Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle on Diamond Lake Boulevard in Roseburg, according to the Roseburg Police Department.
The crash occurred at approximately 11:42 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, on Diamond Lake Boulevard just east of Northeast Pomona Street. Officers from the Roseburg Police Department, along with Roseburg Fire Department and emergency medical personnel, responded to reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision.
Prior to the crash, law enforcement had received multiple reports of a woman dressed in dark clothing standing in the median of Diamond Lake Boulevard. Witnesses reported that she was waving her arms and allegedly jumping into traffic in front of passing vehicles.
According to the preliminary investigation, a white Jeep Cherokee driven by 19-year-old Ryan Mays Jr. was traveling westbound in the inside lane of Diamond Lake Boulevard when the vehicle struck the woman.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding her identity until it can be confirmed and her next of kin have been notified.
Mays was not injured in the collision and is cooperating with investigators. Police said that, based on the preliminary investigation, the incident does not appear to be criminal in nature.
The crash remains under investigation.
The Roseburg Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Roseburg Fire Department, and Umpqua Valley Ambulance.
