PORTLAND, Ore. — A Warm Springs man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after sexually exploiting a minor, recording the abuse, and uploading the material online, federal prosecutors announced Monday.

Odysseus Japeth Tewee, 20, was sentenced to 180 months in federal prison followed by 10 years of supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney Scott E. Bradford for the District of Oregon.

Court records show the investigation began on Sept. 23, 2024, when the Portland Police Bureau received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding a video containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) that originated from Warm Springs.

Investigators identified Tewee as the suspect and alerted the Warm Springs Police Department. Within hours, officers from the Warm Springs Police Department and agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation identified the minor victim, located Tewee, and took him into custody.

A subsequent search of Tewee’s cellphone, conducted under a search warrant by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, uncovered more than 100 images and nine videos depicting child sexual abuse material.

A federal grand jury in Portland indicted Tewee on Oct. 16, 2024, on four charges, including sexual exploitation of a child, transportation of child pornography, possession of child pornography, and sexually abusive contact.

On Jan. 5, 2026, Tewee pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child.

The FBI led the investigation with assistance from the Warm Springs Police Department, the Portland Police Bureau, and the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Pam Paaso prosecuted the case.

Federal officials said the prosecution was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative launched in 2006 to combat the sexual exploitation and abuse of children. The program brings together federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to identify victims, investigate offenders, and prosecute those responsible for child exploitation crimes.
