KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. — A 74-year-old Bonanza man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Highway 140 in Klamath County, according to the Oregon State Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:18 p.m. on June 30 near milepost 30, close to Kingfisher Drive.
A preliminary investigation found that Wesley Carl Lawson, 74, of Bonanza, was riding a black Honda motorcycle eastbound on Highway 140 when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the motorcycle left the roadway and crashed on the eastbound shoulder.
Lawson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash temporarily affected traffic on Highway 140 for about one hour while investigators examined the scene.
The Oregon State Police was assisted by the Bonanza Fire Department, Life Flight, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
