BEAVERTON, Ore. — A 14-year-old boy is in critical condition after a collision involving an electronic scooter and a vehicle in south Beaverton early Tuesday morning.
According to the Beaverton Police Department, officers and emergency medical personnel responded to the crash at approximately 6:21 a.m. on Southwest Scholls Ferry Road near Southwest Loon Drive.
Preliminary findings indicate the juvenile was riding an electronic scooter and using a marked crosswalk to cross Southwest Scholls Ferry Road when the collision occurred. Authorities said the teen was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The 14-year-old sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The driver involved in the crash, a 16-year-old male, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.
Southwest Scholls Ferry Road was closed for several hours as members of the Beaverton Police Department Traffic Team and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) conducted an extensive investigation and processed evidence at the scene.
Officials have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the collision.
