BEND, Ore. — A Wisconsin woman was arrested Friday night after allegedly shooting a Texas man who investigators say had just struck her husband with a pickup truck during a family dispute in southwest Bend.
According to the Bend Police Department, officers responded at approximately 11:53 p.m. on May 29 to the 300 block of Southwest Century Drive after a man called 911 to report that he had been shot in the stomach.
The investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation involving family members. Police said a 32-year-old Texas man became involved in an argument with a relative before allegedly using a Ford F-350 pickup truck to strike a 49-year-old Wisconsin man.
Authorities said the injured man’s wife, identified as 35-year-old Wisconsin resident Karlina Cooper, then shot the Texas man. A 15-year-old family member was present at the time of the shooting.
Both the truck driver and the man who was struck by the vehicle were transported to St. Charles Bend with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Cooper was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. She was lodged at Deschutes County Jail.
The incident remains under investigation.
Bend Police thanked the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and Bend Fire & Rescue for their assistance at the scene.
