YACHATS, Ore.—A woman was arrested Thursday following a reported theft at a business along Highway 101 that escalated into a confrontation involving a knife, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
On May 28, 2026, deputies responded to a theft in the 500 block of Highway 101 in Yachats after a female suspect was reported to have stolen items from a local business. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect as Danielle Condley. A deputy later located her behind Yachats City Hall.
According to the sheriff’s office, when the deputy attempted to detain Condley, she allegedly began walking away, appeared unsteady, and kept her right hand out of view while shouting for the deputy not to approach. As the deputy moved to prevent her from leaving, Condley reportedly backed away and produced a knife from her pocket.
During the encounter, Condley allegedly lost control of the weapon, dropping it to the ground. Both she and the deputy reached for the knife, with Condley regaining possession. The deputy then tackled her to the ground and issued commands to drop the weapon. Condley was disarmed and placed in handcuffs.
Additional deputies and the Oregon State Police responded to assist in securing the scene. Authorities said Condley was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported, and the stolen property was recovered.
Condley was charged with third-degree theft, unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting arrest.
