BEAVERTON, Ore. — A Beaverton man is in custody following an early morning shooting Thursday at an apartment complex that left no injuries but resulted in attempted murder charges, according to police.
On Thursday, May 28, 2026, at approximately 2:18 a.m., the Beaverton Police Department responded to multiple reports of gunfire at the Monte Vista Apartments, located at 14848 SW Scholls Ferry Road.
Multiple callers reported hearing a rapid succession of gunshots outside one of the apartment buildings. Several witnesses also reported seeing a gray sedan leaving the area immediately after the shooting.
When officers arrived, they located multiple shell casings in the parking lot and determined that a nearby vehicle had been struck by gunfire. At the time of the incident, two adult males were seated inside the targeted vehicle. Neither was struck, and no injuries were reported.
During the investigation, officers identified the suspect as 51-year-old Karl Armstrong Jr. of Beaverton. Police located Armstrong a short distance from the scene and took him into custody without incident. Investigators later recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
Authorities said preliminary findings suggest the incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute involving individuals connected to the apartment complex.
Armstrong was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges including Attempted Murder, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Beaverton Police Department at 503-526-2280 and reference case number 26-1480086.
