EUGENE, Ore. — A Guatemalan national living unlawfully in Culver, Oregon, has been sentenced to federal prison after traveling across state lines to sexually abuse a minor, federal prosecutors announced.
Leonias Juber Ramos-Garcia, 26, was sentenced Tuesday to 30 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release.
According to court documents, the investigation began in February 2025 when Ramos-Garcia allegedly gave the minor victim a note containing cash while expressing romantic interest in the child. Prosecutors said Ramos-Garcia later sent sexually explicit messages to the victim in March 2025 and arranged a meeting at a Central Oregon hotel, where he sexually abused the minor.
Authorities said Ramos-Garcia traveled again in April 2025, this time from Oregon to Washington, where he booked a second hotel room and sexually abused the victim a second time.
Ramos-Garcia pleaded guilty on Nov. 18, 2025, to traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
U.S. Attorney Scott E. Bradford announced the sentence.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Administration and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Enforcement and Removal Operations. The prosecution was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney William M. McLaren.
Officials encouraged anyone with information about the physical or online exploitation of children to contact HSI at 866-347-2423 or submit a tip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s CyberTipline.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
