Dallas — A Polk County judge on Thursday found 42-year-old Enrique Canales guilty on all charges related to the sexual abuse of an adult family member following a trial in Polk County Circuit Court.
Deputy District Attorney Shannon Clausen prosecuted the case before Circuit Judge pro tem Timothy R. Park.
According to the Polk County District Attorney’s Office, the victim reported three acts of abuse to the Independence Police Department in 2025. Following an investigation, police arrested Canales, of Independence, the same day the allegations were reported.
Court officials said Canales failed to appear for his originally scheduled trial in February 2026. Judge Park also found him guilty of Contempt of Court in connection with that failure to appear.
The Polk County District Attorney’s Office praised the victim for coming forward and acknowledged the investigative work conducted by the Independence Police Department.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 26 at 9 a.m.
