SALEM, Ore. — A Salem man was arrested Wednesday evening after investigators seized approximately 15 pounds of methamphetamine during a narcotics investigation conducted by the Strategic Investigations Unit.
According to authorities, detectives involved in the ongoing investigation contacted Edward Garza, 59, of Salem, at about 5 p.m. on May 6 in the parking lot of the Fred Meyer store on Commercial Street Southeast.
Investigators, assisted by an Oregon State Police narcotics detection canine, obtained a judicial search warrant for Garza’s vehicle. During the search, detectives located approximately 15 pounds of methamphetamine in the trunk, officials said.
Garza was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was lodged on a charge of Delivery of Controlled Substances – Methamphetamine.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing. Additional inquiries are being referred to the Marion County District Attorney’s Office.
