JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ore. — A 65-year-old Scio man died Sunday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on U.S. Highway 20, according to Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash near milepost 81.5 at approximately 4:17 p.m. on May 3. A preliminary investigation found that a westbound black Harley-Davidson FHX motorcycle, operated by Kevin Allen Cloud, attempted to pass traffic by crossing the double yellow centerline into the eastbound lane.
The motorcycle collided head-on with an eastbound gray Kia Sedona driven by Angela Kristine MacFarland, 49, of Bend.
Cloud was transported by air ambulance to a regional hospital with serious injuries but died shortly after arrival. MacFarland reported minor injuries, and a 14-year-old passenger in her vehicle was not injured.
The highway was impacted for about three hours as emergency crews investigated and cleared the scene.
Responding agencies included the Black Butte Police Department, Black Butte Ranch Rural Fire Protection District, and Sisters Fire Department. The crash remains under investigation.
