DALLAS, Ore. – A West Salem man has been sentenced to three years in prison following a violent domestic assault that occurred in March 2026, according to court records.
Travis Jay Miller, 32, was sentenced in Polk County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to one count of felony strangulation. The charge stems from an incident in which Miller attacked and strangled his girlfriend at her residence.
Miller appeared before Polk County Circuit Judge pro tem Timothy R. Park, who imposed the maximum presumptive prison sentence for the offense, along with an additional six months. In total, Miller will serve 36 months in custody.
Following his release, Miller will be placed on 24 months of post-prison supervision.
Court records indicate Miller has a prior criminal history that includes convictions for assault and domestic violence-related offenses.
Authorities have not released additional details about the victim but emphasize that resources are available for those experiencing domestic violence.
