Vancouver, WA. — A small aircraft made an emergency landing along State Route 14 on Saturday afternoon after experiencing a mechanical issue shortly after takeoff.
According to the Vancouver Fire Department, crews were dispatched at approximately 12:32 p.m. on April 18, 2026, following reports of a Cessna aircraft landing on the highway. Responders located the plane in the grass along the eastbound shoulder near milepost 2.
Officials said the aircraft had departed from Pearson Field when the mechanical issue occurred. The pilot safely executed the emergency landing on SR-14 and was able to taxi the aircraft onto the shoulder, avoiding traffic.
The pilot, who was the sole occupant, was not injured. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
Emergency responders from the Vancouver Fire Department were assisted by American Medical Response, the Vancouver Police Department, and the Washington State Patrol at the scene.
The incident did not result in reported injuries or significant traffic disruption.
