DESCHUTES COUNTY, Ore. — A 66-year-old man from Nampa, Idaho, was rescued Monday evening after suffering injuries in a motorcycle crash near Cache Mountain in the remote northwest corner of Deschutes County.
According to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Deschutes County 9-1-1 received a Garmin emergency activation at approximately 7:14 p.m. on June 22. The rider reported that he had injured his leg and shoulder after a slow-speed fall from his motorcycle in an area about 10 miles northwest of Sisters.
Deschutes County Search and Rescue volunteers responded to the remote location using all-terrain vehicles and reached the injured motorcyclist. SAR personnel provided medical care at the scene before transporting the man to a waiting Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire District ambulance.
The rider was then taken to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend for further evaluation and treatment. Authorities did not release his name or provide an update on the extent of his injuries.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office credited the quick response of Search and Rescue volunteers and the assistance of partner agencies for helping bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
