Washington County, OR. — The annual Hagg Lake Fishing Tournament is set to return May 9, 2026, bringing anglers of all ages to Henry Hagg Lake for a morning of fishing, competition, and outdoor recreation.
Hosted by Washington County Parks and supported by local partner Get Hooked, the fourth annual event will run from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Scoggins Valley Park in Gaston.
Participants can fish anywhere on the lake—either from shore or by boat—starting at 8:00 a.m., with lines in the water until noon. Judges will evaluate catches before an awards ceremony at 1:00 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded in both youth and adult categories for several species, including trout, brown bullhead, bluegill, crappie, and perch.
Organizers say the event is designed to be more than just a competition. With more than 300 participants attending last year, the tournament emphasizes community engagement, outdoor education, and awareness of the lake’s diverse fish populations.
Registration is required, costing $10 per individual or $20 for a household of up to four people. Anglers age 12 and older must also have a valid fishing license, available through the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The event is supported by a network of community partners and sponsors, including Rods and Reels in Need, Trout Tickler Tackle, Next Adventure, Fisherman’s Marine & Outdoor, and Shake.bu Fishing Club.
Located within the 2,500-acre Scoggins Valley Park, Henry Hagg Lake is a popular destination offering fishing, boating, more than 14 miles of trails, and year-round recreation.
