WHITE CITY, Ore. — A man wanted on multiple felony child sex abuse charges was arrested Monday, March 30, during a coordinated operation led by the United States Marshals Service Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force.
Jose Francisco Gonzalez-Castaneda, 40, of Medford, was taken into custody without incident at a shopping center in the 7500 block of Highway 62, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. He was wanted on a felony warrant that included five counts of first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of first-degree sodomy, and one count each of second-degree sexual penetration and second-degree sodomy.
Authorities said Gonzalez-Castaneda is currently lodged at the Jackson County Jail. Additional federal charges were added after his arrest.
The arrest followed a years-long investigation conducted by detectives with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit.
Members of the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, including deputies from the sheriff’s office and detectives from the Central Point Police Department, assisted U.S. Marshals in locating Gonzalez-Castaneda in White City.
The task force focuses on locating and apprehending fugitives wanted for serious offenses, including violent crimes, sex offenses, firearm violations, and probation violations.
Officials said no further information is being released at this time.
