GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A 34-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning following a vehicle pursuit that spanned several miles along Redwood Highway and ended near a busy commercial area in Grants Pass.
According to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began at approximately 1:53 a.m. on March 31, 2026, when deputies attempted to stop a spray-painted black vehicle for a traffic violation near Redwood Highway and Glendon Road. The driver failed to yield and fled northbound, initiating a pursuit.
Deputies deployed spike strips near the community of Wonder, successfully damaging the vehicle. Despite this, the driver continued north, even after the front driver-side tire came apart near milepost 10. Authorities said the vehicle continued traveling on three tires as deputies made additional attempts to stop it, deploying spike strips three more times.
The pursuit came to an end near Elmer’s Restaurant on the Grants Pass Parkway, where the vehicle finally stopped.
The driver then fled on foot but was apprehended after a short pursuit involving deputies and officers from the Grants Pass Police Department. Troopers with the Oregon State Police also assisted in the incident.
The suspect was identified as Anthony Lynn Foster, 34. He was taken into custody and lodged at the Josephine County Jail.
Foster faces multiple charges, including felony and misdemeanor eluding, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), felon in possession of a weapon, driving while suspended, third-degree escape, and a parole violation.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
