CORVALLIS, Ore. — A repeat retail theft suspect with multiple outstanding felony warrants was arrested during a targeted retail theft enforcement operation conducted by the Corvallis Police Department’s Community Livability Unit (CLU) in partnership with a local business.
The four-hour operation took place on Friday, June 12, 2026, as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to reduce retail crime, improve public safety, and support businesses affected by theft. Officers worked alongside loss prevention personnel to identify repeat offenders, disrupt organized retail theft, and deter future criminal activity.
During the operation, officers made several arrests for theft-related and other criminal offenses.
One of the most significant arrests involved 48-year-old Oscar Porras of Salem. According to police, loss prevention staff recognized Porras from previous theft investigations involving more than $1,000 in stolen merchandise and alerted officers after he entered a business on Northeast Four Acre Place.
Investigators determined that Porras was attempting to steal nearly $600 worth of additional merchandise and was carrying a theft device. During the investigation, officers also discovered that Porras had allegedly been using his brother’s identity to avoid detection because he had multiple outstanding felony theft warrants.
Police said investigators learned Porras had successfully provided false identification to law enforcement on several occasions over the past year. Loss prevention personnel also reported that he is connected to multiple ongoing retail theft investigations at businesses across Oregon.
Porras was arrested and booked into the Benton County Jail on the following charges:
- Attempted Theft II (ORS 164.045)
- Possession of a Burglary Tool or Theft Device (ORS 164.235)
- Giving False Information to a Police Officer (ORS 162.385)
The Corvallis Police Department said the Community Livability Unit will continue conducting similar enforcement operations with local businesses to combat organized retail theft and enhance community safety.
